Hospital, hospice and bedside signings

The part of this work most notaries won't do, and the reason this business exists.

$125 flat, and we don't rush

A power of attorney or advance directive usually becomes urgent at the worst possible moment — a parent admitted overnight, a discharge planned for tomorrow, a document that has to be signed before anything else can happen. We come to the room.

The flat fee covers travel, up to four notarial acts, coordinating with nursing staff on timing, and the first thirty minutes of waiting. After a decade selling patient beds and equipment into hospitals, the building and the staff aren't unfamiliar.

We will also tell you honestly, before driving out, whether a signing is likely to be one we can complete — a notary is required to confirm the signer understands the document and is signing willingly, and that conversation is better had on the phone than at the bedside.

What we notarize

We notarize documents. We don't draft them or advise on which one you need — bring what your attorney, title company or facility gave you.

Powers of attorney & advance directives

Medical and financial POAs, living wills, advance directives. Frequently same-day.

Estate planning documents

Wills, trusts and deeds, including signings with multiple signers and witnesses. In person only — Colorado doesn't allow wills to be notarized remotely.

Real estate & title

Deeds, affidavits, lien waivers, seller packages. Short notice welcome; we work alongside valley realtors and title offices.

Apostille service

Documents bound for a foreign country, hand-carried to the Secretary of State in Denver.$175 + $5 state fee per document

Credible witness

No current photo ID? Colorado permits identification by credible witness, and we can arrange one rather than cancelling your appointment.$25 per witness

Business & employment documents

Contracts, corporate resolutions, vehicle titles, I-9 verification, consent forms and affidavits.

What it costs

Colorado caps the notarial act itself at $15. Travel and timing are what you're really paying for, so both are itemized and quoted in full before we start — never after.

The hospital and care facility visit is a flat $125 covering travel, up to four acts, staff coordination and the first thirty minutes of waiting. Summit County, Leadville, Glenwood Springs and Basalt require a two-act minimum and advance notice. Cash, check and card accepted; payment is due at the signing.

How it works

  1. Call or text. Tell us the document, the town and when you need it. If we can't make your window we'll say so on the call rather than leaving you waiting.
  2. Get the full price before we drive. Act fee, trip fee and any timing fee, itemized. No surprises at the table.
  3. Have the signer's current photo ID ready. Driver's license, state ID or passport, unexpired. Every signer needs their own, and the name has to match the document.
  4. Don't sign the document yet. A notary has to witness the signature. Signing it in advance is the single most common reason an appointment has to be redone.
  5. We notarize, you pay, done. Usually fifteen minutes for a straightforward signing.

Questions

Can you come today?
Often, yes. Same-day appointments with under four hours' notice carry a $50 fee. Call and ask — you'll get a straight answer immediately.
What if the signer doesn't have a current ID?
Colorado allows a signer to be identified by credible witness. We can arrange a qualified witness for $25 rather than ending the appointment. This comes up often in care facilities.
Can you notarize a will?
Yes, in person. Colorado does not permit wills or codicils to be notarized remotely, so these are always an in-person visit.
Can you tell me which form I need, or fill it out for me?
No. A notary who isn't an attorney can't advise on which document you need or what it means, and we won't guess. We verify who you are, witness your signature, and complete the notarial certificate.
What if the signer can't physically sign?
Colorado has a procedure for this, and it isn't a family member taking the pen. Call before the appointment and we'll walk through what's possible.
Do you work with realtors and title companies?
Yes, regularly. Call for a standing arrangement if you close in the valley often.
